We Believe

We believe the Bible to be the inspired, inerrant and complete Word of God.  As we learn from the Bible, there is one God existing in three persons:  God, the Father; God, the Son - Jesus Christ; and God, the Holy Spirit.  Salvation from our sins is based solely on the work of Jesus Christ by Jesus paying the penalty for our sins through His death and resurrection.  We in no way merit salvation nor can it be earned.  Salvation can only be received by repenting from our sin and having a genuine faith in Jesus Christ.  "Of Him (Jesus) all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins." Acts 10:43

About Us

Photo of Sunday morning serviceCommunity Bible is a nondenominational church represented by people from many different churches and people who have no church background.  Currently 150 families are active members of Community Bible with approximately 500 people attending Sunday services and Sunday School.  Our doors are open to anyone honestly seeking to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ and anyone with such a relationship who seeks to be equipped to serve Him in a spirit of unity.

The church government of Community Bible is elder and deacon-led with the routine business of the church conducted by these boards.  The board of elders are the spiritual leaders of the church while the board of deacons tends to the business needs of the church.  Please refer to Article II and following of the church by-laws for a complete description of our government.

CBC History

A church is not a building; it is a body of believers in Jesus Christ.  In fact, there was no church building in the beginning days of Community Bible.  The church started as several families meeting together to worship in homes.  These individuals were faithful in sharing their faith and the numbers began to grow.  Eventually, homes were no longer large enough to meet the need.  Sunday worship began taking place in a Ft. Pierre, South Dakota business and in a rented building.  In 1979, the church incorporated as "Community Bible Church" and soon after space became an issue again.  This led to building on our present day site in 1984-85.   God continued to bless resulting in construction of the family life center in 2000 which includes a full-size gym and additional classroom space.  Addition of the family life center has allowed Community Bible to meet current ministry needs and opened the door to many new possibilities.

Our future may also include expansion of our sanctuary area.  In 2009 the church membership approved a future expansion of sanctuary to accommodate growth in the church family. Due to space limitations, Community Bible now has three rather than two Sunday morning services.  Anticipation of growth resulted in two lots being purchased adjacent to our current property to ensure we have room to expand.
