Do It Now!
The world is not at ease. This pandemic is causing people to think about death. I read a news article this week entitled, “Americans rush to make online wills in face of the coronavirus pandemic.” Wow! More so than in a long time, mortality is on the minds of many.
In this context, we must take stock of the urgency with which Scripture addresses us. Scripture never commands us, “You can repent tomorrow. It’s okay. Take your time! There’s no need to change your life right now.” Rather, the Scriptures say says the opposite: “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand” (Matt 4:17); “Now is the day of salvation” (2 Cor 6:2); “The hour has come for you to wake from sleep” (Rom 13:11).
Dear friend, are you prepared to die? Is your house in order? Do you have peace with God? Or, are you bitter? Do you resent others? Are you hiding sins from God, hoping he’ll forget about them? Repent now, dear friend. “Seek the LORD while he may be found” (Isa 55:6). Stop procrastinating. Time is short. Death is imminent. Judgment is near. Whatever it is the Lord has convicted you to do, do it now!
