"GriefShare and More…”

Starting in early September, CBC will be hosting a 13-week session of GriefShare. Each session contains a biblically based video and workbook. There is also a group discussion, which can be very helpful. Everyone’s grief journey is different—some people want to talk and share, while some don’t. Either approach is OK. Simply being in a room with people who have experienced a similar loss can be very positive and healing. I would encourage anyone who has lost someone to consider attending. It can be a very valuable tool in one’s grief journey.

My wife, Pam, passed away 18 months ago. I attended a GriefShare session shortly after her death and then helped facilitate the sessions at CBC last fall. I truly believe that one of the reasons that God gave me this trial was to learn from it, and then help others who may be dealing with a similar trial. This is what Paul says in 2 Cor 1:3–4 when he explains, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all of our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.”

So, brothers and sisters, if God has used a trial to teach you, please use that knowledge to help others. God intends to bring good out of our grief by using us to help others who are grieving. Please consider joining us this September.
