Middle School @ 6PM
High School @ 8 PM
Meet at Oahe Downstream Picnic Area

MISSION   IMPOSSIBLE

YOUR MISSION, SHOULD YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT IT...

Who Can Participate?

The event is open to all youth in grades 6-12; the middle school session is held first at 6 PM, and the high school session is later at 8 PM.

When is it?

In late October or early November each year, beginning at 6 pm for middle schoolers, and at 8 pm for high schoolers.

Where is it?

At Oahe State Recreation area, below the dam.  The picnic area is the first right turn after the large parking area.

Itinerary

The middle school session begins @ 6pm, and starts with some food - usually sloppy joes, chips, cookies/bars, and water provided by CBC. During that time, the kids will hear a high school student (part of CBC Unashamed Youth) give their testimony about the Gospel. After that, they will go play the game.

The high school session begins @ 8pm, and starts with a snack (cookies and bars) and water.  During that time, the kids will hear an adult leader share their testimony about the Gospel.  After that, they will go play the game.

THE GAME

THE GAME STARTS SIMPLE:

  1. You start with a red or black playing card.

  2. Your objective is to find the TOKEN CENTER out in the woods and trade that card for a token.

  3. Once you have that token, you must get back to the REDEMPTION CENTER to hand in that token and get a point for your team.

  4. Then, you get another card, and are on the hunt for another token. Repeat steps 2-4 until time is up.

  5. The team that gets the most points wins!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE:

  1. Hindering your progress are GUNNERS and ROPERS. These dynamic duo teams are on the hunt for you!

  2. If a GUNNER spots you, they blow their whistle and shine a flashlight on you. You must stop where you are (if you run, they will chase...)

  3. A ROPER will then take away your CARD... OR TOKEN... and you will have to go back to the REDEMPTION CENTER to get a card and start over.

  4. That's right - they can take your token away too if you haven't gotten back to the REDEMPTION CENTER. So speed and stealth are essential to getting points.

FOR THE ADVANCED PLAYERS

(or, should I say, for the ELITE AGENTS)

  1. If you can sneak up and catch a ROPER before you are caught, you can take them back to the REDEMPTION CENTER and get 5 points (instead of 1 point per token)!

  2. If you can sneak up and catch a GUNNER before you are caught, you can take them back to the REDEMPTION CENTER and get 10 points (instead of 1 per token)!

The TOKEN CENTER does not stay in one place... it moves!

THE SMALL PRINT

We have a lot of fun and in a safe environment. We scout the area beforehand and we have adult volunteers (who have had background checks) walking the grounds during the game.

We also have HELPERS. Their sole job is to walk the grounds and assist the youth.

PARENTS AND STUDENTS: If you bring your PHONE out to Mission Impossible, please have the RINGER ON LOUD and have a "FIND MY IPHONE" or some sort of TRACKING APP enabled.  That way if you DROP YOUR PHONE in the woods, you can FIND IT

SO, COME OUT AND JOIN US! IT'LL BE A LOT OF FUN!

What is it?

It is a fun evening, where youth will enjoy food and/or snacks, hear testimonies about the Gospel, and then the game begins--kids will be searching for tokens which equal points for their team, while being  hunted down by those trying to stop them and take their tokens.  (Game details are below)

OH, AND BY THE WAY:
