“Friends & Christian Fellowship”

In many Christian communities, fellowship refers to a deep sense of communion and shared experience. When we read 2 Corinthians 13:14, "The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all," we begin to understand the importance of fellowship. In this verse, we see the Trinity expressed through grace, love, and fellowship.
A few years ago, Carrel and I had the joy of experiencing fellowship in an unexpected situation. Arriving at an Arizona resort where we would be spending a month, a gentleman behind our park model (compact home) was outside reading a book. Not knowing anyone, I simply said, “hi neighbor.” The result is a three-year friendship with a solid Christian couple, who every January we spend a lot of time together. We go to church, bible studies, meals, movies, and just spend time together. What a JOY!
In 1 John 1:6–7 we read, “If we say we have fellowship with him while we walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”
Fellowship with friends is one thing but fellowship with the Lord is totally different. Fellowship with the Lord requires repentance, trust, and obedience. God did not send his Son to the Cross for us to be flippant in our Christian walk. I trust that we all wish to walk in the Lord.
Happy Fourth of July!
