I’ve not been a patient person for much of my life. Recently, our home air conditioning went out, and we have no expected fix date. With triple-digit temperatures recently, this situation has been particularly challenging. This isn’t a “poor me” moment; rather, this is a moment for me to express my need for God. In situations like these, it is easy to become frustrated and anxious, but we find support and strength in the Word of God.

The Bible teaches us the virtue of patience through numerous passages. James 1:3-4 reminds us, “The testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.” This verse is a source of encouragement for me, emphasizing that patience is not merely waiting but a process of growth and strengthening of our faith. Also, Romans 12:12 encourages us to “be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” This verse highlights the importance of maintaining a positive outlook, even in difficult times, and turning to prayer as a source of comfort and guidance.

In my current situation, I have been reflecting on these scriptures and striving to embody patience. It’s not been easy, but I trust that God uses this time to teach me and to help me grow. I encourage each of you to consider your own lives and the challenges you face. Whether they are minor inconveniences or significant trials, remember that God is with you, and patience is a virtue that He desires to cultivate within us. Let us support one another in prayer and encouragement, seeking to grow in patience and faith. May we all find peace in knowing that God's timing is perfect, and His plans for us are good.
