“Your Sin Will Find You Out”

With great sadness I write this. Pastor Steve Lawson, who once had a profound impact upon me, recently revealed that he had fallen into grave sin. The elders at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas announced, “Steven J. Lawson has been removed indefinitely from all ministry activities at Trinity Bible Church of Dallas. Several days ago, the elders . . . were informed by Steve Lawson of an inappropriate relationship that he has had with a woman.” This news follows several other public revelations of sin involving pastors (Tony Evans and Robert Morris) and an entertainer (Sean “Diddy” Combs).

The Bible consistently warns us that hidden deeds will eventually come to light. Numbers 32:23 reads, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” Solomon explains, “For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.” Christ teaches in Luke 8:17, “For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light.” And the Apostle Paul writes, “Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows” (Gal 6:7–8).

These stories and passages serve as a sober reminder. We mustn’t hide our sins, for the Almighty will bring them to light. Brothers and sisters, the day of salvation is today (2 Cor 6:2). The Throne of Grace awaits (Heb 4:16) No more running; no more hiding. Let us confess, repent, and live with integrity now!
