A Golden Opportunity

Virginia Brown

Atheism reached its peak after 9/11, and we are reaping the consequences of that. Open borders, hook-up culture, the breakdown of the family, marijuana legalization, Islamization, endless government spending, and giving puberty blockers to children—all this chaos stems from secularism. Amidst this tumultuous backdrop, people yearn for something more than what secularism offers. In this context of longing, Christianity is making a comeback.

Recently, the famous podcaster and non-Christian, Joe Rogan, spoke with Aaron Rodgers, QB for the Jets (Go Bucs!). During that interview, Rogan said, “Human beings seem to have a very strong desire for some sort of order and form that seems to be the right way to go. . . As time rolls on, people are going to understand the need to have some sort of divine structure to things, some sort of belief in the sanctity of love and of truth. And a lot of that comes from religion. . . . It’s a [messed up] world we live in. We need Jesus.” As Rogan’s comment illustrates, non-Christians are waking up to the fundamental importance Christianity has in the world.

Yes, the night is dark, but also, yes, the light of Christ shines brighter. The church possesses a golden opportunity to shine forth the love of Christ. So, let’s get to work! Tell others about Christ. Make Facebook posts about Him. Text your friends Bible verses. Ask deep, meaningful questions. See if strangers will let you pray for them. We have no need to fear. Through Christ, Christians will win.
